‘El barberillo de Lavapiés’ es una de las obras más populares y divertidas del repertorio de la zarzuela. Cuenta la historia de amor entre Paloma y Lamparilla, que sucede en un Madrid del siglo XVIII que está revolucionado por diferentes conspiraciones políticas que estos héroes populares deben resolver. La obra, que fue estrenada en 1874, se presenta en un montaje del Teatro de la Zarzuela, de Madrid, con la adaptación en el texto y la dirección de escena de Alfredo Sanzol, la escenografía y vestuario de Alejandro Andújar y la coreografía de Antonio Ruz. Un espectáculo que recuerda la universalidad de este ícono de la lírica española.
